Build Night 10/6/09

September 29th 2009

Progress on lots of the droids tonight.

Steve worked on routering all the slots and grooves on his frame

Syrena ans Jeff continued working on their center legs

Jayson made a lot of progress on cutting the openings in his dome.

Jen and Jeff drilled the shoulder hubs

Steve finished getting his frame ready for gluing this weekend

A very productive build night

September 27th 2009

I was not happy how the hybrid skins were fitting on R2. Moose came by to see what we could do. Off with the skins, again, and after much reshaping of the frame they started fitting much better.

Both sides are lining up much better now!

We pulled off the legs to get in to all the tight places.

Syrena and Jen did some work on Jen's Sith costume.

Finally after a week of fighting the swine flu I'm finally feeling like some very lite building.

Hey who let this R4 on board?!

I have no idea how many disks I busted

I love a nice tight fit!

D'oh!


Since it lines up with the front skins I just need to put in a new brace on the left side of the hatch.

Trying out an idea I got from Moose for mounting the arms

Hot glue and stainless steal don't play well together

More tweaking and I think it'll work!

Syrena put the new skins on R2 while I continued working on the footshell flatpack.

We decided to go with the A&A skins since the cuts are perfect. Also we're using a hybrid of the A&A top skin with the stainless back skin I made over the summer.

WOW - He does not look like the same old lumpy!
